Frequently Asked Questions

Which Coins Do You Accept?

  • We accept all pre-1968 Canadian and Provincial coins graded by ICCS, PCGS, NGC, or CCCS.

What do the Stickers Mean?

  • A Sticker means that a coin has been carefully examined by experts and judged to be of premium quality for its grade. Silver Stickers are given to coins that are premium examples for their stated grade. A Blue Sticker is given to a coin judged to be undergraded.

What Does "Premium Quality" Mean?

  • With all the different factors that impact a coin's grade (lustre, quality of strike, wear/marks, eye appeal), a premium example is a coin which exceeds the expectation at its grade point in some areas, while still being held back to the grade from other technical flaws.

If a Coin Does Not Receive a Sticker, Does that Mean it is Overgraded?

  • Not at all. Although most coins are graded accurately for their assigned grade, there is always the possibility that some are either at the lower end of their grade or possibly overgraded. However, we do not designate those coins as such, and only award stickers for PQ or undergraded examples.

Do Coins with Stickers Command a Higher Price?

  • The Sticker itself adds no additional value to the coin. Rather it is a symbol of approval from our strict grading team that the coin is a premium quality example. However, we feel that Stickers will add liquidity and collector confidence to the Canadian numismatic market, which may lead to an increase in price in order to obtain a quality coin.

Why Don't You Have a Physical Location?

  • We operate out of PO Boxes for safety and security of your coins and to help keep prices low. Lack of a physical location helps to deter theft and also allows us to appraise your coins at lower prices.

How Can I be Sure that My CNAS-Appraised Coin is not a Fraud?

  • We have many checks in place to ensure customer confidence and avoid frauds. Customers may use our Population Report to verify if a CNAS-approved coin has been awarded a Sticker by us. If it is in our database, then it is genuine. Moreover, to prevent switching fraud, our stickers have special tamper-proof technology that ruins them if removed from a holder.

How Can I Submit My Coins to CNAS?

  • Navigate to the shipping instructions page, print your form and follow the steps!
